How it works

During a 30-minute installation process, agents are installed on the customer server(s) requiring data protection. Once daily backup times are set, DataVault agents “wake up” at that particular time, scan for block-level changes among files since the last backup and then those changes are then compressed, encrypted and then sent over standard communications lines to an electronic vault at a DataVault data center.

It's as simple as 1-2-3

  1. Call to order
  2. Install backup agents
  3. Start your backup

Installation and Configuration:

Once you have purchased DataVault SBE service, you will be put in contact with a dedicated DataVault representative. This representative will walk you through the total installation and configuration of your first backup job. After this 30-minute process, you will not have to worry about your data security anymore. The software is installed, your backup scheduled and number of copies kept online are set. It’s just that easy!

First Seed creation:

The first backup will start (“seed”) when indicated in the schedule and perform a full backup of all files on your protected server. The speed that data is seeded on to the vault depends on the type of broadband connection used by the customer. (DSL or T1 lines are recommended). Our dedicated representative will monitor this first seed to ensure its success and informs the customer upon completion.

Secured transmission:

DataVault SBE ensures that data is thoroughly encrypted while being transmitted over the Internet to a DataVault data center as well as in return back to the customer during a restore. The service utilizes industry-standard, 128-bit Blowfish encryption algorithm at no extra charge.

Where your data resides:

Customer data is securely stored at state-of-the art data centers. Our data center partners operate highly secure, raised-floor environments with redundant power and fire suppression systems.

Recovery options:

DataVault SBE customers have two primary recovery options for an individual file recovery: The recovery may be performed by the customer by using the software interface. For a nominal fee, DataVault technical support can assist with recovering a particular file. Should a larger data volume need recovering quickly due to disaster or a server crash, for example, DataVault can assist with the data rebuilding effort by taking larger amounts of recovered data and incrementally placing them on removable media before shipping it to the customer for restoration.

Professional Assistance:

DataVault SBE technical support is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the customer’s time zone and will be very happy to answer any customer question.
